The Mediterranean Sea faces a critical moment: the impact of pollution, the warming of its waters and the loss of biodiversity require immediate responses and transversal alliances. In this fourth edition of the Bluewave Days 2026, organized by Bluewave Alliance, we once again united the forces of scientists, companies, activists and citizens, both in person at the Olympic Port of Barcelona and via streaming. This sea, recognized globally for its beauty, faces serious threats that require an immediate response. The Mediterranean is the most affected by pollution, especially due to plastics that deteriorate its ecosystem. In addition, it suffers from overfishing, heats up 20% faster than other seas and is losing its biodiversity at an alarming rate.

The epicenter of knowledge and inspiration: 4th Bluewave Symposium

The central act of the event was consolidated as a key day of science, conservation and leadership with purpose. Through key presentations and one-to-one conversations, we address the great marine challenges from rigorous knowledge and innovation:

· Science and diagnosis: First-level researchers exposed the current state of our sea and urgent strategies for its protection. ‍

· The power of dissemination: Activist and communicator Carlota Bruna reminded us of the importance of narrative to mobilize society towards change.

· Exploration and global footprint: The submersible pilot Héctor Salvador took us to the most remote depths of the planet to reflect on how far our impact reaches.

· Culture and awareness: Together with Odicean, we present the second episode of the documentary "Waves of Tomorrow", focused on the fragility and beauty of the ecosystem of the Balearic Islands. An edition that shows that collaboration between science, business and society is the true key to preserving the health of our sea.
