IED Barcelona communication students present their final projects based on the Plastic Free Oceans initiative at the Bluewave Alliance Space
The showcase concluded another year of collaboration between both institutions, during which IED Barcelona Marketing and Communication students worked to devise new business lines, strategic approaches, and communication plans around the project driven alongside Gravity Wave.

The Bluewave Alliance Space once again served as a hub for young talent and environmental innovation with the presentation of final year projects by IED Barcelona Marketing and Communication students. Following years of strategic partnership joining creativity and conservation, the students used the Plastic Free Oceans project—driven by Gravity Wave with the support of ISDIN and the Bluewave Alliance—as a real-world case study to build their innovation proposals.
Throughout the day, the students presented disruptive concepts ranging from the creation of new sustainable business lines to novel communication campaigns designed to scale the impact of marine plastic removal. Through this practical exercise, young talent proved how business strategy and communication design can redefine corporate and social commitment to the marine environment.
Practical education for long-term impact
The consolidation of this partnership between the Bluewave Alliance, Gravity Wave, and IED Barcelona reinforces the value of connecting classrooms with real environmental challenges faced by companies and organizations. By opening its venue as an ideas lab, the Alliance fosters an environment where the creativity of future generations transforms into strategic tools to protect the sea.
The presented proposals demonstrated that combating plastic pollution requires cross-cutting perspectives, where ethical marketing, business innovation, and purposeful storytelling become essential engines to accelerate Mediterranean regeneration.
