Respect for the oceans is born of emotional connection and knowledge from the earliest ages. With this premise, the ethologist, communicator specialized in marine mammals, National Geographic storyteller and dreamer of the Bluewave Alliance, Alex Avello, has presented his latest editorial project: Keni, the Little Whale. The launch, held at the Port Olímpic, served to discover a work designed so that children become the conservation tool of the future, transforming their perception of the marine environment through education and empathy.

During the presentation, Avello was accompanied by the Olympic champion and Ambassador of the Bluewave Alliance, Ona Carbonell, who participated in the round table”From story to action: the ocean is also a children's thing”. In this colloquium, both authors highlighted the power of children's narrative to instill environmental values. ”Keni's story connects children to what's going on under the surface and makes them aware that their actions matter”, stressed Carbonell.

A story with purpose

Published by the publisher BABIDI-BÚ, Keni, the Little Whale narrates the adventures of this young mammal together with its mother, facing the challenges that currently threaten their home. Álex Avello, also the promoter of the “Children by the Sea” initiative, defines the book as a necessary awareness-raising tool:

“If we can get the little ones to understand that they are part of this blue world and that they have the capacity to take care of it, we will have taken a huge step forward as a society.”

The project acts as a bridge between the science of animal behavior and childhood sensitivity, making it easier for children to understand the importance of protecting vital species in areas where Avello is actively working through its Oceavida association.

Commitment to the Mediterranean

With the launch of this project, the Bluewave Alliance's mission to promote outreach initiatives that bring the marine environment closer to society is reaffirmed. The entity, which has collaborated closely in the creation of the work, adds this book to its catalog of projects aimed at restoring health and beauty to the Mediterranean Sea.

Like other projects of the alliance that merge art, science and technology, Keni, the little whale represents a firm commitment to environmental education as an engine of change, consolidating the commitment of the Bluewave Alliance to the formation of a generation that is more aware and responsible for the future of our planet.
