#PlasticFreeOceans: Sea Clean-Up
A project driven directly by ISDIN alongside Gravity Wave to clean plastic waste from the Mediterranean. At the Bluewave Alliance, we support and amplify this circular economy initiative that transforms ghost fishing nets into long-lasting furniture.

The Mediterranean Sea faces one of the highest concentrations of plastic pollution on the planet. To tackle this threat, ISDIN directly drives an impactful project alongside Gravity Wave, partnering with over 7,000 traditional fishers across Spain, Greece, Italy, and Egypt to remove marine debris from the water.
The initiative focuses specifically on recovering abandoned fishing nets, one of the most damaging and least managed waste streams in the recycling industry, giving them a second life through circular economy processes that turn them into durable furniture. At the Bluewave Alliance, we join forces to highlight, communicate, and amplify the reach of this project, demonstrating how ISDIN’s corporate commitment and collaboration with the fishing sector can turn pollution into a valuable resource for ocean protection.

Goal
Targeting tonnes of plastic for removal from the seas and oceans since 2023.
Fishers involved
Over 7,000 fishers are actively participating in plastic removal efforts across the Mediterranean.
Locations
Ports around the Mediterranean are equipped with containers for plastic collection.
