Barcelona hosts the premiere of "Waves of Tomorrow": the docuseries giving a face to Mediterranean regeneration
The Paral·lel 62 hall hosted the premiere of the new episodes of this documentary project produced by the Bluewave Alliance and Odicean Expeditions. The work highlights the critical role of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) as havens for biodiversity and hope.
The documentary industry and the scientific community gathered in Barcelona for the premiere of the new chapters of "Waves of Tomorrow," a docuseries supported by ISDIN that seeks to transform social perception of marine conservation. The event reaffirmed the Bluewave Alliance's commitment to using audiovisual narrative as a tool for mobilization and collective awareness.
The new episodes, directed by Arnau Argemi and Marco Del Boca, take the viewer from the waters of the Balearic Islands to the Cabo de Palos reserve. Through the stories of its protagonists, Maria Barbena and Pol Ramos, the documentary not only captures the beauty of the underwater heritage but also delves into the human responsibility to protect it.
A reflection on the 30x30 objective
The presentation featured activist Olivia Mandle, who offered an opening reflection on the urgency of reconnecting with the natural environment and restoring the bond between society and the Mediterranean. Following the screening, a roundtable discussion was held with the Odicean Expeditions team, addressing the technical and ethical challenges of filming in wild natural settings.
A key point of the debate was the relevance of the global 30x30 goal, which aims to protect 30% of the oceans by 2030. Speakers agreed that Marine Protected Areas are essential pieces for ecosystem resilience, allowing marine life to recover.

From classrooms to the ocean: the Peques by the Sea project expands to new regions to inspire 3,500 schoolchildren
The objective of the initiative is to connect new generations to marine protection through science, emotion and direct action. The project is growing this year, reaching 50 schools in Asturias, Madrid and Barcelona.
